Parental controls that put parents in charge

Link a child's account to a parent or guardian. The parent decides how much the child can spend, who they can chat with, which worlds they can visit, and when they can play. Anything that needs a grown-up's OK goes to the parent first.

How linking works

  1. Either side can start it. A child, signed in on their own account, opens For kids and makes a short code or asks a parent by username. Or a parent invites the child by username, or makes a code for them. Codes work once and expire.
  2. The other side confirms. A parent or guardian signs in to their own account, which must have completed adult verification and a confirmed email, agrees to the terms, and sets a parent PIN. The child always says yes too. Nobody is linked without both.
  3. The parent sets the rules. A newly linked account starts with the safest settings: spending off, chat with friends only, and every friend request needs approval. The parent can make things stricter or loosen the limits, but approval itself never switches off.

A parent's approval is required for every child account: no friends are added and nothing is bought until a parent has linked and said yes. Nobody can be linked without the child's own sign-in. A parent can end a link at any time; a child can ask to end it and the parent decides.

What a parent can control

Spending

Choose off, ask me each time, or a monthly G-Backs limit. Every purchase by a child needs the parent's OK, and a limit is a hard cap on top. Each approval is single-use and expires, so one OK never turns into a blank cheque.

Approval queue

When a child hits a limit they tap through to Ask a parent. The parent sees exactly what was requested and approves or declines it.

Chat and messages

Turn chat off, allow friends only, or allow the full lobby with filters. Parents can also choose optional safety alerts for chats. The child always sees what is on, and nothing is switched on without the parent agreeing to the terms first.

Friends

The parent sees the child's friends list and a queue of friend requests, and approves or denies each one. Choose to hear about every request, only friends of friends, or no new requests at all. A parent can also remove a friend or block a player.

Worlds and ratings

Allow or block whole genres or single worlds, and choose the highest rating a child can visit. Adult-rated worlds are never available to a child account, whatever the settings.

Screen time

Set a curfew window (for example 9 PM to 7 AM) and an optional daily play limit, in the family's own time zone.

Parent PIN

Protect these settings with a PIN so a child on a parent's signed-in device can't change them.

About G-Backs and G-Tix

G-Backs are bought and are what spending controls apply to. G-Tix are earned only, can't be transferred, and are never convertible to cash. Parental spending controls cover purchases with either currency.

Our promises

Parents are responsible for purchases made by minors in their care, as set out in the Terms.
